One day, an American visiting Scotland met a shepherd with a beautiful sheep dog. He liked the dog very much, and he offered the shepherd 90 dollars for it, but the shepherd refused. "I couldn't part with (分离) it." he said.
Just then a man with an English accent (口音) walked up and made the same offer. The shepherd agreed right away. He put the money into his pocket, and handed over the dog to the English man.
The American got very angry. "You told me you couldn't part with your dog. Why did you sell it to him?" he cried.
"Yes, yes!" said the shepherd. "I did say I couldn't part with it, but England isn't that far as the US and it will be back in a couple of days. But it can't swim across the Atlantic."
